Georgia to Launch Seatbelt Campaign

Drivers in Georgia could face a traffic ticket if they don’t buckle up.

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety is launching the annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign on May 21. Drivers can expect a ticket if they don’t buckle up because hundreds of law enforcement agencies across the state will be looking for violators.

The office says 423 people older than the age of 5 were killed in crashes where they were unrestrained in 2010.

Office director Harris Blackwood says “our police officers, state troopers and sheriff’s deputies are prepared to ticket anyone who isn’t buckled up.”
