Family Drops Lawsuit in Fatal Tennessee Crash

The family of a young man who died in a crash which a former state trooper did not stop for has dropped a $10 million lawsuit.

Charles Van Morgan was fired in February after investigators found he drove by the fiery car wreck in November that killed 20-year-old Gordon Kyle Anito in Knox County.

WVLT-TV reported Anito’s family members said they feel the Tennessee Highway Patrol provided justice by firing Morgan. The lawsuit had named Morgan and the THP as defendants.

Morgan has been fighting to get his job back and has a Dec. 6 hearing in that effort.

Knox County prosecutors dismissed cases against 95 people for violations Morgan investigated, saying Morgan has no credibility after the crash incident.
