Mom Sues West Virginia Day Care Over Girl’s Death
A woman is suing a day care in Wood County, W.Va., over the death of her 4-year-old daughter.
Shawna Wise’s lawsuit claims her daughter Mercedes died after she was left unattended in a hot vehicle.
Police have said the girl’s body was found in the vehicle on Aug. 30.
The Parkersburg News and Sentinel says Wise filed the wrongful death lawsuit against Lester and Linda Rockhold last week in Wood County Circuit Court. The Rockholds own and operate Lynn’s Little Wonders Daycare Center.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
The telephone number for the day care has been disconnected.
No criminal charges have been filed. Authorities say the state medical examiner is awaiting a toxicology report to determine the cause of the girl’s death.
