Lawsuit Filed Against Tennessee Drug Rehab Center in Death
The grandmother of a West Tennessee teen who died shortly after being released from a Dickson County drug rehabilitation center has filed a lawsuit.
According to The Tennessean, the $14.5 million lawsuit was filed Wednesday against the New Life Lodge in Burns. In it, Charity Comage of Brownsville contends her 18-year-old grandson Savon Kinney died last year after being put on an antipsychotic drug, but not properly monitored for its effects.
Records show Kinny was one of three New Life Lodge patients to die within a 15-month period.
The state shut down the center, but let it reopen later, allowing a reduced number of patients, all of them adults.
Center management did not directly address the lawsuit in a prepared statement Wednesday, saying it had been “fully audited.”
