Insurance Firm Donates $2.5M to West Virginia University
An insurance company has donated $2.5 million to West Virginia’s Marshall University to establish a research endowment.
The university said Thursday that the gift form the BrickStreet Insurance Foundation Inc. is expected to be matched through the state’s “Bucks for Brains” West Virginia Research Trust Fund, bringing the endowment to $5 million.
The money will support research at the university’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.
Greg Burton, president and chief executive officer of BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Company, presented the donation to university representatives at the company’s headquarters in Charleston.
