Mississippi County Supervisors Expand Fire District
The Forrest County Board of Supervisors has approved the expansion of the Rawls Springs Fire District to include properties previously left out of any county fire protection districts.
Typically, Rawls Springs residents are automatically entered into the fire district simply by using Rawls Springs’ utilities. Supervisor Charles Marshall tells The Hattiesburg American some properties are outside of the Hattiesburg city limits, but use city utilities and garbage pickup were left out of the Rawls Springs Fire District.
Forrest County Fire Coordinator Chip Brown said Monday the property owners newly added to the Rawls Springs district will see their insurance premiums go down, since they are now officially part of a fire district.
