Girl Injured in Fall at Disney World Hotel in Florida
Authorities say a 6-year-old girl was injured when she fell from a third-story balcony at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Villas.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reports that the girl, whose name wasn’t released, fell Monday evening from her family’s room.
The girl’s father told a security officer he was taking a shower when he heard his wife scream. The father said he ran down the stairwell and jumped over a wall to get to his daughter. The girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where she was believed to be in stable condition.
The Animal Kingdom Villas surround a preserve filled with free-roaming animals and birds, but park officials told authorities that animals don’t have access to the area where the girl fell.
Detectives believe the fall was accidental, but it remains under investigation.
