North Georgia Churches Continue to Be Targeted by Thieves
Police say a spree is burglaries at churches in north Georgia is continuing.
Dawson County sheriff’s Maj. Ray Goodie said 12 churches have been targets of burglaries in his county since February.
Goodie tells The Times that one of them has been hit multiple times.
He estimates the thefts have totaled more than $40,000.
Goodie said a common thread in the burglaries is that thieves are stealing musical equipment and instruments. He said some electronics have also been stolen.
Goodie said his department is working with nearby Lumpkin County on the cases, since churches in that county have also been burglarized.
Both counties are offering $1,000 rewards for information in the cases.
