Nev. Dental Liability Program Approved
Nevada State Insurance Commissioner Alice A. Molasky-Arman has approved a professional liability insurance program for dentists underwritten by Fortress Insurance Company (“Fortress”). The program will provide professional liability coverage for dentists at limits of up to $2,000,000 per patient, $6,000,000 per policy.
Coverage will be provided either on an occurrence or claims-made basis. Coverage for dental anesthesiologists is also available at limits of $1,000,000 per patient, $3,000,000 per policy. Only the claims-made form is available for dental anesthesiologists.
Fortress is a dental liability specialist and a new entrant to Nevada’s marketplace. Fortress was formed in 1997 to insure dentists and dental specialists and is domiciled in Illinois. The company was recently authorized to do business in Nevada. The parent company, OMS National Insurance Company (OMS) is an Illinois-domiciled risk retention group specializing in professional liability coverage for oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
OMS was established 15 years ago and has been registered as a risk retention group in Nevada since 1989. OMS has an “A” rating from A. M. Best.
