Greenberg Traurig Hosts Perchlorate Contamination Liability Seminar in Santa Monica

April 12, 2004

The international law firm of Greenberg Traurig LLP will host a seminar titled “Perchlorate Contamination Liability” on Friday, May 7, at 12:30 p.m. at its Santa Monica, California office, 2450 Colorado Avenue, Suite 400 East.

A team of nationally recognized lawyers and scientists will discuss the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s impending establishment of national standards for perchlorate contamination and their potential impact on businesses.

Perchlorate, a natural and man-made salt, is used primarily as an oxidizer in rocket fuel and munitions. It also is used in the production of paints, dyes, matches, fireworks, safety flares, air bag inflators, and lubricating oils. The setting of national drinking water and dosage standards reportedly can significantly affect litigation related to the cleanup of contamination as well as personal injury cases.

Topics covered at the seminar also will include proactive measures to limit potential liability; insurance coverage; test methods and cleanup technology; the legislative; rulemaking processes; and a review of case studies of perchlorate sites and defense strategies for groundwater contamination.

The seminar is free. To register, call Michelle Martinez at (305) 789-5481 or send an e-mail to martinezm@gtlaw.com.
