Mercury Insurance Group Partners with Employees, Helps Hurricane Victims
California-based Mercury Insurance Group has donated $110,000 to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund, it was announced by the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Gabriel Tirador.
Matching its employees’ donations dollar for dollar, Mercury’s contribution will go directly to ongoing relief efforts in the wake of the devastation wrought by Hurricanes Wilma, Rita and Katrina.
“Our claims teams were on the front lines of these terrible events,
writing checks and supporting our policy holders shortly after these storms passed, but there are many others that also need help,” said Tirador. “I am, therefore, extremely proud to be able to make this contribution on behalf of all of Mercury’s employees and our outstanding network of independent agents and brokers so that the residents of the affected areas can begin to rebuild their lives.”
Working together with local and federal government officials, Mercury’s
emergency response teams were quickly deployed to hurricane-affected areas to assist policyholders. In many cases Mercury made house calls and issued checks on the spot to cover losses resulting from the storms.
“The American Red Cross is grateful for the generosity that Mercury
Insurance has shown to those devastated by Hurricanes Wilma, Rita and Katrina,” said Patrick Baker, CEO for the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross. “Supporters like Mercury Insurance and their employees will enable the Red Cross to provide help to those in need.”
