Florence Man Sentenced for 2006 Arson Wildfires

A 20-year-old Florence man who is serving a 10-year prison term for fires set in western Montana in 2006 was given a 20-year probationary sentence in Missoula County.

Jonah M. Warr was sentenced to two 20-year suspended sentences with the Department of Corrections to run concurrently with each other and to the sentence he received last month in Ravalli County. Both county sentences are to run consecutively to the 10-year federal prison term that Warr is already serving.

Warr has admitted setting at least 19 fires on state and national forest land in 2006 that cost more than $8 million to fight.

His federal sentence includes $455,229 in restitution.

When Warr set the fires, he was on probation in Ravalli County, Mont. for a series of other crimes, including felony possession of explosives, criminal mischief and burglary.
