AIA Names Slovin Legislative Advocate for Hawaii
Gary M. Slovin will serve as legislative advocate in the State of Hawaii for the American Insurance Association. AIA advocates on behalf of property and casualty insurers at the state and federal level and has local counsel in all 50 states.
“Hawaii faces unique insurance challenges, and Gary will be a forceful advocate for AIA’s members and their policyholders,” said Ken Gibson, AIA vice president, state affairs. “Gary’s impressive reputation and years as a business advocate will position him as an important resource for policymakers.”
Slovin, who earned his law degree at the University of Pennsylvania, concentrates his practice in the areas of land use matters and government relations on the state and local level. He has been managing partner since 2006, and his clients include Costco Wholesale, Covanta Energy Corporation, Wyndham Worldwide Corp. and McDonald’s Corp. Slovin’s extensive community service includes serving as a board member of the Friends of the Williams S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii and as president of the Honolulu Zoo Society.
