New Mexico Counties Eigible for Disaster Aid
Eastern New Mexico’s Curry and Quay counties are eligible for federal disaster aid because of their proximity to a neighboring Texas county that suffered a disaster.
Parts of Texas were declared disaster areas after high winds and hail in August, according to a news release from Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., announcing the assistance.
Farmers and ranchers in Curry and Quay who suffered losses are eligible for low-interest emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency. Information is available from agency offices in the two counties.
