Oregon Takes Enforcement Action Against Insurance Producer
Oregon’s Department of Business and Consumer Services has taken an enforcement action against nonresident insurance producer Mike Padilla.
According to the final order, Padilla, whose last recorded residence and address was in San Antonio, Texas, had his license expire on Dec. 31, 2008. The Oregon Insurance Division refused to renew his license for forging a check in teh amount of $7,119.06. On or about Sept. 22, 2004, Padilla was convicted, based on a plea of nolo contendre, by the 226th District Court of Bexar County, Texas. According to the indictment, he intentionally attempted to defraud or harm another by making a check payable to himself by Total Care Home Health.
In November 2006, Padilla applied for an Oregon nonresident insurance producer license, on which he answered “no” to the question, “Have you ever been convicted of a crime, had a judgment withheld or deferred, or are you currently charged with committing a crime?” Padilla’s answer was incorrect.
DCBS Insurance Division Acting Administrator Teresa Miller issued the final order against Padilla.
