No Damage Reported As Small Earthquake Jolts Santa Barbara
A small earthquake jolted Santa Barbara County this week, but there are no reports of damage or injuries.
The U.S. Geological Survey says an offshore quake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.9 shook the area at 4:22 a.m. Thursday. It was centered about 7 miles northwest of Point Conception, 9 miles southwest of Lompoc and 29 miles southwest of Santa Maria.
U.S. Geological Survey physicist Randy Baldwin says more than 200 reports of people feeling the quake came into the USGS center in Colorado.
