Insurance Adjusters Assessing Arizona Storm Damage

Insurance adjusters representing several carriers have descended on Arizona to assess the damage caused by recent storms. Tennis-ball-sized hail and four tornadoes ripped fell on the northern part of the state this week, the National Weather Service confirmed.

The storm, which arrived in the state on Tuesday and continued through Wednesday caused strong thunderstorms and flooding. At times air traffic at the Phoenix airport and automobile traffic had to be halted. High winds derailed 28 freight train cars. And about 30 homes had to be evacuated due to the storm damage, forcing families into shelters, according to local reports.

Calling the series of tornadoes an “outbreak,” the National Weather Service said 22 tornado warnings were issued on Wednesday. Despite the damage, no injuries or deaths have yet to be reported.

Farmers Insurance reported it had a total volume of 4,800 claims as of press time, with few claims reported as a result of the Flagstaff and UT tornadoes.
