California Construction Worker Dies After Falling from Roof
State workplace safety officials are investigating the death of a construction worker who fell from the roof of a home in unincorporated Tiburon and struck his head.
Authorities identified the man on Wednesday as 53-year-old Gabriel Vasquez of San Rafael.
State Division of Occupational Safety and Health spokeswoman Patricia Ortiz says another worker found Vasquez unconscious at the construction site on Tuesday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at Marin General Hospital.
Ortiz says state investigators will try to determine what caused Vasquez to fall.
Marin County Sheriff’s officials are also investigating the incident and are awaiting the results of toxicology tests. They say there were no witnesses to the fall.
Ortiz identified the contractor as Weiss Builders Inc. A company representative did not return a call seeking comment from the Marin Independent Journal.
