Montana Couple Sues Over Basement Construction
A Montana couple is suing two North Dakota companies over construction of a wood basement.
Mike and Melissa Tvedt, of Wibaux County, Mont., filed a civil complaint against Todays Agency, LLC, of Bismarck, and Shetler’s Construction, of Dickinson. The suit seeks at least $200,000.
The Tvedts claims the work failed to meet industry standards and say the footings, foundation and walls of the house have to be removed and reconstructed.
Todays Agency says it’s not liable and if any damaged occurred, it was the responsibility of Shetler’s Construction acting as an independent contractor.
Shetler’s Construction says the work was inspected and accepted by the Tvedts and Todays Agency. Shetler’s says the Tvedts are now requesting a concrete basement and other changes for which the company cannot be held liable.
