Las Vegas Hotel Kitchen Fire Prompts Evacuation
Fire officials say about 1,000 people were briefly evacuated from Las Vegas’ Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino because of a smoky kitchen fire.
Spokesman Timothy Szymanski says a dishwashing machine caught fire late Friday afternoon, but was quickly put out by an automatic sprinkler.
But he says the fire generated a lot of smoke and prompted the evacuation for about a half hour.
No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at about $5,000.
