Sidewalk Snow Removal Ordinance Eyed in Northern Idaho
The ordinance requires home owners to maintain sidewalks along their property as part of the city’s goal to be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
But the ordinance also allows for city workers to clear the snow in front of a home and then charge the home owner in the form of a lien against the property.
The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that Councilwoman Carrie Logan says that’s too onerous.
City Attorney Scot Campbell agrees and supports removing the part of the ordinance allowing the filing of a lien against the property owner.
