Nevada Officials Unveil Disaster Vehicle
Nevada Senator Harry Reid and Washoe County Sheriff Michael Haley are rolling out a special communications vehicle that will help officials set up a mobile command center during a disaster.
The so-called Critical Incident Response Vehicle was unveiled yesterday in Reno.
It will carry vital communications equipment and intelligence-gathering staff, and is the first of its kind in Nevada.
Haley says it’s critical that agencies can communicate with each other during a crisis situation.
Total cost for the vehicle is approximately $573,000.00. The Department of Justice Office of Community Orientated Police Services grant funded $500,000 and remainder was obtained through a Department of Homeland Security grant.
