Washington Homeowners Help Battle Grass Fire
Washington homeowners with garden hoses helped firefighters battle a three-alarm grass fire that burned about 100 acres in the East Valley community near Yakima.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the fire threatened four homes Monday in gusty winds but no structures were lost.
About 40 firefighters from a half-dozen districts contained the fire. A helicopter from the Yakima Training Center dropped loads of water.
Andy Wangler of the Selah Fire Department says it’s pretty early in the season for a fire of that size.
