Thieves Damage Arizona School Buses

June 28, 2012

Peoria, Ariz., police say thieves have stolen about two-dozen vehicle batteries and damaged a dozen buses at the Peoria Unified School District’s Support Service Center.

The Arizona Republic says the theft and damage total about $8,500.

The district and its insurance trust are working with Silent Witness to offer a $2,500 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the capture of those responsible.

Peoria police say the thieves entered the service center last week by cutting a chain-link fence and driving into the yard.

The break-in is the latest in a string of burglaries to hit the Peoria school district.

Since November, the district has experienced seven burglaries and one incident of theft at Sky View Elementary.
