Gas Line Explosion in New Mexico Injures 2 Men
Two people working on a gas line in Santa Fe, N.M., are recovering from burn injuries following an explosion that also caused a small brush fire.
Santa Fe police Capt. Aric Wheeler says one of the men was treated for extensive burns Wednesday, while the other was treated for burns on his arms and hands.
The New Mexico Gas Co. employees had been working in a residential area when flames shot up in the air.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the fire spread to a backhoe the men were working with and a trailer used to carry it.
Wheeler says the blaze was contained once a crew from the gas company shut off the fuel.
He says several homes also had been evacuated.
