Party Bus Investigated in Portland Girl’s Death
Police say an 11-year-old girl who fell to her death from a party bus in Portland, Ore., was sitting on top of her backrest when she leaned against an unlocked emergency window during a turn and landed in the street.
Angie Hernandez of Portland died Saturday evening at the scene. The bus was taking children to a quinceanera – a Latina girl’s 15th birthday party.
The Oregonian reports the bus company, Five Star Limousine, does not have a permit to operate party buses in the city and the 61-year-old driver does not have a commercial license.
Five Star is cooperating with the investigation and the general manager, Rick Lycksell, believed the driver was not required to have a commercial license because the bus was not big enough.
