Fire at Idaho Falls Straw Maze Causes $100K in Damage
A fire burning in a straw bale maze in Idaho Falls caused an estimated $100,000 in damage and was expected to continue to burn into Thursday or Friday.
The Idaho Falls Fire Department tells KIFI-TV that the fire started at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and was fueled by about 100 1-ton bales of straw.
Gusting winds blew smoke from the fire over the city.
Owner Preston Walker says the fire at the “Lost Straw Maze” also burned a backhoe.
Firefighters say they don’t plan to pour any more water on the fire, but expect it to continue to burn into for one or two more days.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
