Utah Man Seriously Injured After Jack Gives Way
A West Point, Utah, man is seriously injured after a jack gave way and the truck he was working on at a home fell on top of him.
Authorities say the 42-year-old man was working between the wheel and the fender of the truck when it slipped off the jack about 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Witness Travis Fausett tells KSL the man was unconscious for a few minutes before he was pulled from under the vehicle.
West Point police say the man had severe chest injuries, but was eventually able to speak to rescuers and was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
Scott Harper of the Davis County Sheriff’s Office says the man is a good mechanic and likely took precautions with the jack.
The cause of the failure is under investigation.
