College Wins $100,000 Grant to Help Injured Workers Return to Work Sooner
The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) has awarded the University of Washington (UW), in collaboration with Harborview Medical Center, a $100,000 grant to help get injured health-care workers back on the job sooner.
The Return-to-Work grant, which is part of the Safety & Health Investment Projects (SHIP) Program, will help the UW develop and test a training program for supervisors at Harborview Medical Center that will help injured workers return to work sooner, reducing costs and productivity losses for the UW.
Return-to-Work grants help Washington state industries bring to life innovative ideas that will get injured employees back on the job sooner and reduce longterm disability.
On May 22, L&I will offer a 60-minute webinar spotlighting the benefits of the grant program, which includes support from L&I to help applicants with the grant process. Invitations to register for the webinar will soon be posted at www.SafetyGrants.Lni.wa.gov.
