Electrical Cord to Blame in Oahu House Fire
Investigators say an electrical cord from a floor lamp is the cause of a fire that completely gutted a two-story home in Oahu.
Hawaii News Now reported Friday that the fire on Alapio Road that left nine people displaced was electrical.
Firefighters were called just after midnight Thursday to Alapio Road and found the house mostly engulfed by flames. Four cards also were damaged.
It took firefighters about 30 minutes to control it.
Everyone in the house escaped safely. Authorities say the couple renting the home got out with their three children, three family friends and another tenant.
Officials say the damage to the property is about $250,000 and $70,000 to the vehicles.
