Cost of Arizona College Breach Estimated at $17M
The college district that serves the Phoenix area stands to spend more than $17 million because of a computer breach.
Costs anticipated by the Maricopa County Community College District include work to fix the computer system, pay for lawyers and provide credit monitoring to 2.4 million current and former students and other affected individuals.
The Arizona Republic reports that the updated cost estimate is up from $14 million previously.
There’s no evidence so far that the personal data involved in the 2013 breach was stolen or misused.
