Colorado Towns Get $52M in Federal Flood Aid

The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it has provided about $52 million in disaster aid to Longmont, Jamestown and Lyons since last September’s flood.

The total includes money to residents, businesses and the local governments.

The Longmont Times-Call reports that Longmont that has received about $27.5 million, Jamestown more than $5 million and Lyons more than $20 million.

Most of the money has been low-interest loans from the Small Business Association.

FEMA aids local governments on a reimbursement basis, repaying 75 percent of eligible expenses. The rest is split between the state and the community.
