University of Oregon Professor Blames City for Fall on Curb
A University of Oregon professor filed a claim against the city of Eugene after she broke her shoulder and elbow falling on a yellow safety curb ramp at an intersection.
Hope Marston says her feet went out from under her when she stepped on the traction pad.
KVAL reports the city denied her claim because other factors could have caused the fall, such as the weather or her footwear.
Eugene Public Works spokesman Eric Jones says the ramps follow national standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Marston says when she complained she was told the traction ramps are an amenity.
