No Criminal Charges in Colorado’s Black Forest Fire
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the district attorney say they don’t have enough evidence to prosecute anyone on criminal charges in connection with the Black Forest fire last year.
The sheriff’s office says the case could be reopened if new evidence surfaces later.
The announcement comes in a summary of the investigation released by the sheriff’s office on Tuesday.
A previous report found that no one could have stopped the fire that started June 11 and burned more than 18,000 acres, destroyed 488 homes and killed two people.
