California ‘Bridezilla’ Charged With Insurance Fraud
A woman who once appeared on the reality show “Bridezillas” has been charged with insurance fraud in Los Angeles County.
The California Department of Insurance said in a statement Wednesday that 55-year-old Anita Maxwell has been charged with 14 felony counts.
The department alleges Maxwell made false claims for more than $40,000 in workers’ compensation.
The statement says Maxwell worked for the Cedars-Sinai Health System when she claimed she injured her neck, back and shoulder while assisting a patient. It says she’d previously made similar claims for the same injuries.
Maxwell turned herself in Tuesday. It’s not clear whether she’s hired an attorney and contact information for her could not be found.
She was left at the altar in the 2007 season of “Bridezillas,” the wedding-themed reality show on the WE network.
