Laser Plasma Cutter Fire Causes $850K Damage at Oregon Steel Company
The Eugene/Springfield Fire Department responded to a fire Tuesday night involving a laser plasma cutter at the Farwest Steel manufacturing plant.
The department says the company evacuated employees and isolated the fuel. The fire in the metal cutting machine was contained in 20 minutes.
Damage is estimated at more than $850,000.
