Nevada Legislators Consider Bill to Curb Construction Defect Suits
Nevada lawmakers are reviewing a bill aimed at curbing frivolous lawsuits over construction defects.
The Assembly and Senate judiciary committees met Wednesday to discuss AB125, which is sponsored by the Assembly Judiciary Committee.
Lawyer and Assemblyman Erv Nelson says the lawsuits raise insurance premiums and the cost of housing.
Democrats say don’t want frivolous lawsuits, but want to ensure any changes to the law don’t help contractors at the expense of homeowners.
A hearing on a similar bill last session drew homeowners with horror stories about how they couldn’t get help with broken pipes, sagging floors and fungus.
