Connecticut Firefighter Faces Numerous Arson Charges

November 21, 2008

A volunteer firefighter in Plymouth, Connecticut who is already charged with setting fire to a truck, faces 10 additional charges of arson.

Twenty-two-year-old Brett Fennessy was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court earlier this week.

Officials say the fires were set between April and September and included a pickup truck, his parents’ garage, a camper, a barn, four acres of state-owned forest land, an abandoned house, a tractor trailer truck, other houses and a garage. Fennessy was suspended after being charged in September with deliberately setting fire to a box truck.

Officials say no one was injured or killed in any of the fires, but there was a substantial amount of property damage.

The judge has ordered him held on $730,000 bond and is keeping him on a suicide watch.
