New York House Explodes, Killing One Person
Police say they’ve recovered the body of a woman from the wreckage of a New York City house that exploded.
The two-story home blew up Friday in a thunderous blast that destroyed the building, injuring at least six people and hurling debris and flames into the air.
It’s unknown what caused the explosion, but a gas leak is suspected.
The 40-year-old woman’s identity has not yet been released.
Fire officials say six people were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries – a resident of a neighboring house that caught fire, a Consolidated Edison utility worker and four firefighters.
