Rhode Island Insurer Dedicates Green Headquarters
A Rhode Island company says the new headquarters it’s dedicating in Johnston will be one of the greenest buildings in the state.
Property insurance company FM Global says it’s applied for special green certification for the building, which was dedicated Thursday.
The U.S. Green Building Council uses a building rating system called the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design scale, or LEED. FM Global has applied for LEED Gold status.
The company says its new headquarters uses natural daylight and gives special parking spots to fuel-efficient vehicles and carpoolers. It says it’s 40 percent more energy efficient than its previous office building, as well as being more water-efficient.
