1,000 Claims Filed after Australian Hail Storm
The Australian Broadcasting Co. reports that nearly 1,000 insurance claims have been lodged after a hail storm at Ulladulla on the south coast of New South Wales caused extensive damage to properties in the area.
Large hailstones fell from as high as eight kilometres last Friday and smashed hundreds of windows and dented cars. Australia’s largest insurer, NRMA, noted that total repair costs for the region are still being tallied.
The head of claims, David Brown, said temporary centers have been set up in the region to handle the large amount of car repairs.
The company has also appointed more staff to process residents’ claims as quickly as possible. Most of the claims involve damage to cars and roofs.
