GAB Robins (UK) Unveils Graduate Scheme to Address Future Skills Gap
GAB Robins (UK) has launched a new graduate scheme in collaboration with the Financial Skills Partnership (formerly the FSSC) and has successfully recruited its first three graduates through the programme.
“Niall Metcalfe, James Grima and Ashley Marsland have each taken up placements within the company’s claims management and property claims areas,” said the bulletin. “They will then have the opportunities for elective placements in Building Services, Casualty and Major and Complex Loss Service Line operations. At the end of the two-year programme, they will take up loss adjuster roles.”
GAB Robins said it had “worked closely with the Financial Skills Partnership to target key degrees courses in areas such as construction, civil engineering, surveying and financial services and to establish a rotational programme ensuring that graduates receive a comprehensive grounding in all aspects of the business.
Mike Odell, Head of Training and Development at GAB Robins, commented: “Loss adjusting can provide dynamic and rewarding career opportunities but the profession is not at the front of the minds of graduates – this has hindered progress in attracting new talent. We believe the scheme will enable young talent to see the true potential on offer and to quickly build their experience.
“The scheme has already exceeded our expectations. The high calibre of applications means we have taken on three rather than the two graduates we initially planned for.”
Jenny Barber of the Financial Skills Partnership added: “We enjoyed working with GAB Robins and we’re pleased that the project has been so successful for them. This scheme illustrates the efficacy of a well designed graduate recruitment programme. We now plan to offer this service to other employers in our sector and will be developing a recruitment portal within our website’
