Lawsuit: Illinois Vent Cleaning Company Tricked Homeowners
A lawsuit claims that a suburban Chicago vent cleaning company used fake pictures of mold and mildew to trick consumers.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Moshe Kesem, of Schaumburg. The suit also names Kesem’s two businesses, Warranty USA Inc. and Air Duct Cleaning Pros, both based in Schaumburg.
The lawsuit alleges that Kesem fraudulently charged homeowners to clean up mold and mildew that didn’t exist.
The alleged scheme targeted senior citizens. Consumers in Cook, Lake, DuPage, Will and Kane counties reported problems to Madigan’s office.
Madigan is seeking to shut down the company, impose fines and get refunds for homeowners.
Phone messages left by The Associated Press at numbers listed to a Moshe Kesem in Schaumburg were not immediately returned.
