Illinois Fraternity Will Rebuild House
Delta Sigma Phi says it will rebuild a fraternity house at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill., that was destroyed by fire last month.
Mark Zappa is a fraternity brother who manages the building for the fraternity’s national group. Zappa says he has talked to Normal officials about rebuilding. He says the structure is fine, with the major concern being putting a new roof on the building.
Although an insurance assessment continues, fire officials have ruled out arson and lightning as a cause of the fire.
The fraternity house didn’t have sprinklers but was scheduled to get them, as mandated by a state law that takes effect in 2013.
Zappa says the fraternity will hire specialists who handle smoke and water damage. He says no timeline is in place for the renovation.
