String of Arson Fires Investigated in Twin Ports, Minnesota

May 25, 2012

Firefighters in the Twin Ports, Minn., have responded to a string of at least a dozen fires that authorities believe were intentionally set.

Nine fires in the past few months are suspicious in Superior. Battalion Chief Vern Johnson tells WDIO-TV two car fires and a shed fire broke out in the same neighborhood early on May 22. Those fires started about a-half hour after three suspicious fires in Duluth the same morning. An RV, a pickup truck and a garage were destroyed.

Superior police say two vacant properties were set on fire in March. A few days later, firefighters responded to four more arson fires. Two campers, a car and a porch had been set on fire.

Superior police say they have no suspects and are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
