Iowa Dealership Sustains $230K in Fire Damage
A West Burlington, Iowa, motorcycle dealership has sustained $230,000 in fire damage.
West Burlington Fire Chief Mike Heim told The Hawk Eye that Thursday morning’s fire started in a dumpster at Pro Motorsports and eventually spread to the shop building.
He says the owner and an employee tried to fight the blaze with extinguishers but the wind fanned the flames. The fire moved from the Dumpster to a pile of tires and two 55-gallon oil drums before damaging the building.
No injuries were reported.
Crews were able to move a lot of the merchandise before the flames spread. Heim estimated damage to the building and some merchandise on the second floor at $230,000.
