Firefighters Contain Fertilizer Fire at Oklahoma Port
Tulsa, Okla., firefighters have contained a blaze in a building housing a fertilizer business at the Port of Catoosa.
Tulsa fire Capt. Michael Baker said flames were brought under control by Saturday evening at Agri-Nutrients.
Baker says no injuries were reported at the business, which wasn’t open when the fire started. Tulsa firefighters first received a call about the blaze at 3:39 p.m.
Baker says while ammonium nitrate and nitrogen were inside the structure, any risk of explosion appeared to have been eliminated.
About 60 firefighters from Tulsa, Catoosa and Rogers County battled the blaze.
According to its Web site, Agri-Nutrients has been in the fertilizer blending and bagging business since 1992.
Another fire at the Port of Catoosa in December destroyed the building housing Safety-Kleen Systems Inc.
