Wind Leaves Minor Damage During Storms in Arkansas

March 21, 2012

Winds from strong storms hovering over eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas have damaged farm buildings and caused power outages in Carroll County, Ark.

Arkansas Department of Emergency Management spokesman Tommy Jackson says the roofs of two barns were damaged about 2 a.m. Tuesday and some power lines were blown down. He says about 100 homes were without electricity – but that power should be restored by noon.

Jackson and Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Keli Cain both said there have been no reports of fatalities.

A flash flood warning is in effect for the eastern third of Oklahoma, northwestern Arkansas and one county in northeastern Texas. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Oklahoma 16 along the Arkansas River in Wagoner County was closed due to water on the roadway.
