GEICO Donates Money to Restock Tornado-Damaged Schools in Oklahoma

Despite massive community rebuilding efforts following the May tornado in Oklahoma, much remains to be done for local schools. To help get teachers and students of Plaza Towers Elementary School, Briarwood Elementary School and Highland East Junior High in Moore, Okla., back on their feet, GEICO is donating $12,500 to AdoptAClassroom.org in support of the organization’s efforts to restock the classrooms of nearly 130 Moore, Okla. teachers.

Jim Whitten, a GEICO field representative based out of Midwest City, Okla., delivered the funds on behalf of GEICO at a teacher appreciation luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Emmaus Baptist Church in Moore.
The event was attended by teachers and faculty from Plaza Towers Elementary, Briarwood Elementary and Highland East Junior High as well as representatives from GEICO, AdoptAClassroom.org and other corporate sponsors. The contribution was raised through a fundraising drive by company associates and matched by the company’s charitable giving foundation.
