Georgia Still Cleaning Up After Hurricane Ivan, Storms
More than $114 million in hurricane claim losses have been reported in Georgia by John Oxendine, Insurance Commissioner, while Hurricane Ivan accounted for $75 million in damages.
A number of families in metro Atlanta are still recovering from flood damages caused by Hurricane Ivan and other storms. Neighborhoods along Peachtree Creek, Vine City, southwest Atlanta, including DeKalb County’s Drew Valley and Jackson Square communities were ravaged by the storms.
DeKalb County officials have applied for federal grants related to flooding hazards.
